Are you from Montana?

It's been another week of too much FB and work and therefore I am still behind on my blog. But this post makes me laugh...and smile:-). I'm proud to be a Montanan!!!
You know you are from Montana if ...
-You get passed when you are driving seventy five. You get passed by a cop when you are going 85... you look at each other and smile.
-You tell North Dakota jokes.
-During the winter you leave your car/truck running and unlocked and unguarded while you run into Albertsons to get a few things.
-The pickup trucks all have rifles and two big dogs. You wave at every other one of those trucks because you recognize the dogs in the back, or you are on a dirt road and that's what you do.
-People you don't know smile and say "Hello."
-Starting in 3rd grade, you began learning what to do when you see a bear or a mountain lion.
-You hold pride in your heart that the world's largest Tyrannosaurus Rex skull was found in eastern Montana.
-They teach you how to shoot a rifle in high school PE class. Yep.
-Someone says manure spreader and you know it isn't the local congressman.
-You drive down a gravel road going 60 mph, and you get passed by a Ford Truck pulling a 6 horse trailer.
-You carry a snow-scraper in your car all year, along with a hat and gloves, "just in case of snow". You also "plug your car in" at night.
-When the car in front of you is weaving, you suspect a farmer instead of a drunk.
-You go to another city just to go clothes shopping.
-You can actually pronounce the City's name Glasgow (Glasgo) without calling it Glascow.
-You have drank a Flathead Lake Monster Gourmet Soda. What's more is you know about the Flathead Lake monster. And you know why the Flathead Nation is called so. Wow. Look at you.
-Maps and gloves are kept in your vehicles "jockey box".
-You keep jumper cables in your trunk.
-You only found out what Hollister was when you were out of state. And the person you learned it from was a little disgusted that you didn't know what it was before.
-You can choose plastic bags or paper sacks for your groceries.
-You drink Moose Drool. Yeah, you do. It's brown and tasty, and out-of-staters have no idea what Moose Drool is.
-School has never been canceled because of cold or snow. What kind of crazy person invented that concept anyway? (when school actually does get canceled, it takes a scraper and a 4x4 with chains following it to get back home).
-The dorms at school have places where you can store your rifle.
-You can write a check at McDonald's for 2 Big Macs and fries.
-You give people directions by telling them at which bar they need to turn, and if they've gone too far at which bar to turn around.
-If you travel for 13 hours and never leave the state or the time zone.
-You attend a formal event in your best clothes, your finest jewelry, and your Sorels. (but only in the winter)
-You know that Indians actually live in houses and drive cars.
-When you see a black person, you stare - not cause you're racist, but because it's just they are few and far between.
-You are proud that the "Meth: not even once" campaign started in Montana (others states bought the ads!! boost the MT economy!)
-People wear their Chacos/Tevas year round.
-You tell young relatives who live elsewhere that you ride to school on a horse, and they actually believe you.
-It comes as no surprise to you that there is a mountain spring water fountain thing on top of a pass. Fresh water to drink... what's weird about that?
-When you meet people outside of MT and you say you are from Montana, they are amazed and ask you if it is really rustic.
-When the "Open Container Law" was passed, the rest of the world was shocked that previously one was allowed to drive with a beer right by his/ her side. You weren't shocked - this is Montana.
-People bike on the interstate. If there aren't any other roads, then there really can be no punishment.
-You are not surprised when it snows in August - you just put a parka on over your tank top and shorts and go to the out-door concert anyway.
-You got your driver's license when you were 15.
-You don't pay sales tax, and when you go out-of-state you are outraged that you have to.
-MacKenzie River Pizza Co is one of your favorite restaurants... And it's only a Montana place.
-You get excited about the movies "A River Runs Through It," and "Legends of the Fall." Brad Pitt+Montana= YES!!!!!!!
-It is totally legal to have a ferret. It's not a big deal (directed toward Californians).
-About half of the people you knew in High School went to U of M. The other half went to MSU. Very few of them went out of state.
-You refer to Butte as "Butt"
-There is NOTHING interesting about deer in the city, eating the grass from your front lawn (if you are from Helena). They even eat the flowers!
-You can see your breath outside, yet you still are not wearing a jacket. Even Dakotans, Idahoans and Wyomingites are shocked.
-You laugh when Northeasterners put eye drops in their eyes and say the air is dry.
-You want Montana to be its own country: we have a border with Canada and we have enough weapons to pull it off.
-You secretly are proud that the Unabomber hid here. Lewis and Clark are BORING!
-Every foreigner (and out-of-stater for that matter) thinks that Montanans are really nice... we are. Be proud.
-You see a gun at school and ask the kid if he/she got anything [hunting].
-You don't pronounce Helena as Heleena.
-You're proud that our lovely state holds the records for the most rapid temperature change in the US (-32F to 15F in seven minutes at Great Falls International Airport) greatest 12 hour temperature change in the US (63F to -21F in Fairfield) greatest 24 hour temperature change in the US (44F to -56F in Browning) and the lowest recorded temperature in the lower 48 (-70F w/ no wind chill in Roger's Pass).
-You're amazed when you're not driving through road construction or snow.
-The words "Reasonable and Prudent" mean something to you (if they don't, you might be a little too young).
-When you refer to the distance between towns in time instead of miles.
-You plan your kid's Halloween costume over a snowsuit. "Pocahontas has to be a little bit heavier this year honey, sorry."
-Seasonal - (You are pissed off at the media's ignorance about the importance of your state in deciding the 2006 mid-term elections. Yep. We ARE that important! Virginia was 99% sure about their candidate but it was down to us to decide the majority of the senate - us baby!)
-You agree with Steinbeck's "Travels with Charlie" - "I am in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection, but with Montana it is love, and it's difficult to analyze love when you're in it."

If you're not from Montana...you probably hated this post.

Didn't hate it but most of it made no sense to me. I guess I'd be an awful Montanan. :)

Totally funny -- and I must have just enough Montana in me that I can relate to everything -- except the cold parts :-)
