Tonto Natural Bridge

One Saturday in September we took the youth from my ward up west of Payson to Tonto Natural Bridge. We hiked, played, relaxed, BBQ'd and swam. It was a lot of fun. I visited that place with Shawna a couple weeks after we moved here from Montana 7 years ago. We wanted to do some fun things before we both started working. It has changed a little since then. The old round route near the one end of the opening is no longer an option (ok by me...it was scary and dangerous 7 years ago). They have since closed it off and you go up away from the opening to hike back up now.

Here are a few pics:
Peri, Janie, Amanda, Paige - Ridin' up in my car.
Water coming over the edge of the opening. Toni & Hugh walking up the steps.
Looking under the bridge to the other side. Look at the little people inside to see just how big this tunnel is. It's amazing to think it is all natural and the shelter that it likely once created for ancient people.
A small pool of water under the bridge. More little people.
Leaders hanging out underneath...where it was shaded and cool.
L to R: Gretchen, Kristin, Bonnie, Toni, Tammy. Bishop Ames' head is cut off and a park worker.
Gretchen took this picture of me...not so bad. I even smiled like a good girl.
The girls goofing off. Paige, Peri & Janie.
Peri, Paige, Janie & me.
We were staring at the sun...so this is the best picture we could get.
12 o'clock clockwise: Janie, me, Peri, Paige, Bonnie.
Bonnie giving Janie a piggy-back-ride. (Bonnie is one of the MiaMaid Advisors...she's awesome)
It was a long hard day in the sun and this pictures shows it. Peri and Amanda crashed on the way home. Amanda was sleeping...though she is smiling in this picture.
